Dirven Tim
Tim Dirven was born in 1968 in Turnhout. He earned a degree in photography from the Saint-Luc Institute (Brussels). But he did not wait for his degree before getting into the action. With his friend Willy Kuypers he did assignments in Rumania and Yugoslavia while in school. In 1994, he opted to become a freelance photographer. In 1996, Tim was one of the photographers hired by the daily “De Morgen”. He also contributes to other Belgian and international magazines for which he has done several projects. In 2002, he won third prize at World Press Photo (category “Daily life”) thanks to a report on refugees from Afghanistan. His photo book “Yesterday’s people” was published in June of 2006 by the Antwerp Museum of Photography.
